Hello Everyone! and Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
Army life goes on here......but, today we were released in time to watch the Super Bowl. (on a 13 inch screen with a lot of static in the picture...) I was glad that it was a good game too as it will have to last 2 years.
Now that the Super Bowl is over, it is kind of quiet here. Which is kind of nice. Most of the people went out to watch the game, or went home for the night if they lived close. We probably have only 5-10 people here tonight, which is how I can get some access to the internet.
We continue our training and packing. It is hard to believe how much stuff we are taking. Today we had to pack some containers with stuff that we won't need for the next 6 weeks, but possibly the next 10 weeks. It depends if everything arrives in country on time. It is kind of hard to pack warm weather stuff when you are cold.
We are having a "Hail and Farewell" ceremony next weekend. It will be the first 'Official' time that we will wear our Desert Combat Uniforms (DCU). We were all allowed to invite as many people as we want to the ceremony as it will be public, as long as only 5 people per soldier attend. I am trying to beg and borrow an extra 10 tickets so that my friends that live locally can attend. (Great planning, huh?)
I will try to post in another week or so, but will have to go now as I still have some packing to do. Many people have asked about sending 'Care Packages' when I deploy. I will be happy to accept. I have sent a list to Cathy and my Mom with some of the items that I can expect to want and need while over there. I don't have an APO address yet, but will send it when I get it.
